Über das Programm

Cinematography/Camera is a teaching area of the Film and Television department that is not limited to genres or types/forms of films. The foundation of any camera work is technical and aesthetic prior knowledge, which is taught in the basic seminars. Camera and lighting technology are never taught without reference to their use as artistic design tools. In the main study period, these basics are combined in complex ways - through theoretical specialized seminars that address questions of why, when and how something was implemented and how it affects viewers today or at the time of distribution, and through practically oriented seminars that lead to the realization of short films in the complete production chain. The focus of the practical seminars is on the field of tasks of cinematographers in the respective production section (preparation, shooting phase, post-production). The goal is always the thematic orientation with regard to the respective projects of the students, whose temporary needs can be addressed. Special attention is paid to perceptual psychological processes in both the production and reception process. The camera seminars are explicitly not limited to students who are primarily oriented in this direction. Rather, it is about training qualified and unambiguous communication in the film team and working out qualitative standards in order to better assess one's own and others' work.
