About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Archaeology consists of four sub-disciplines: Prehistoric Archaeology, Oriental Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, and Archaeology of the Middle Ages and Modern Times. The focus is on the methods of the respective disciplines and their application based on current research. This bachelor's degree program provides fundamental competencies in handling and evaluating archaeological finds, features, and monuments from various regions and time periods, from prehistory to antiquity, early history and the Middle Ages to modern times. This includes in particular the collection of archaeological data and their interpretation, which contributes to clarifying cultural-historical questions. Topics include, for example, the development and change of human societies through the ages.
