Architecture

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's program in Architecture at HTWK Leipzig builds on a Bachelor's degree with four theoretical semesters, concluding with a Master's thesis. The program aims to help students develop their independent approach to architecture through specific scientific and artistic-creative methods, with the goal of obtaining an internationally recognized degree. The Master's program provides in-depth fundamentals and their largely independent application in designing buildings, urban planning, and construction planning. Students must choose elective courses from the areas of: City and Planning, Design and Visualization, Construction and Technology, and Architectural History and Theory. These should lead to largely independent handling of all topics in the field of construction and building culture. The program trains "specialists for the whole," developing the ability to unite the planning contributions of all those involved in construction in a project and to lead them integratively to a successful result. Partnership relationships with universities in European countries such as France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, as well as in Asia with China and Japan, and in the USA enable students to complete a study period abroad with recognition of the achievements demonstrated there.
