About the Program

The professional profile and fields of activity for architects have changed significantly in recent years. It's no longer primarily about new concepts and new buildings, but mainly about renovation tasks, building in historical contexts, and dealing with old buildings. The shrinking of society also inevitably means a shrinking of our cities, requiring planning concepts and strategies for systematic deconstruction and conversion. Students are encouraged to recognize and develop their individual potential during their studies to create their own work profile for new fields of activity later. Although the density of architects in Germany is particularly high and career opportunities were much better in the past, responsible, creative, and sensitive architects will always find their field of activity. Employment areas are predominantly in planning and architectural offices, building authorities, and government agencies, but also in many construction-related professional fields and as freelance architects. The Master of Arts degree also entitles graduates to pursue a doctorate, qualifies them for registration with the Chamber of Architects, and opens up career opportunities in higher public administration and science.
