This interdisciplinary degree course in Business Information Systems combines the study of computer science with a grounding in business administration. The spread of digitalisation is reaching more and more areas of today's businesses, pushing demand for qualified experts in business information systems with the skills to develop bespoke software for organisations and systems for company applications. The course employs a mix of theoretical classes and practical projects. Experts in business information systems work at the interface between IT and business, which gives them excellent career prospects. They tackle complex challenges in-house and in consultancy, planning, implementing and managing business systems such as SAP, developing e-business strategies or designing data warehouses which provide management with the information it needs. The degree course links up computer science with business knowledge and skills, interspersing theoretical content with real-world project work. Modules taught include business administration, software development, business systems, databases, maths and computer networks. The fifth and sixth semesters of the course provide opportunities to specialise via projects, required elecive modules and the Bachelor thesis.
