About the Program

The Master's program in Civil Engineering offers two areas of specialization: Construction and Design (formerly: Architectural Engineering) and Infrastructure (formerly: Infrastructural Engineering). The program provides in-depth technical knowledge through practice-oriented tasks and problem-solving based on current technology and scientific principles over 4 semesters. Students can choose from a wide and constantly updated range of elective subjects to further deepen their knowledge or position themselves interdisciplinarily. The program is embedded in the three guiding principles of HCU: Disciplinarity as a foundation for competence and excellence in one's field; Interdisciplinarity and project studies for holistic and responsible work; and Transdisciplinarity with cross-disciplinary study offerings. The program prepares graduates for careers as consulting engineers, lead designers and structural planners, and with appropriate elective modules, also for leadership positions in construction management. The research-oriented approach also opens career paths in research and teaching. The university maintains contacts with foreign universities and construction companies, enabling study stays and thesis work abroad.
