Comparative Literature

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

Comparative literature (comparative studies) works with a broad concept of text that includes everything that is mediated by a medium. Comparative literature teaches how to read texts and analyse their mutual interconnections. In doing so, we are interested - in addition to the general characteristics of literary texts - in the relationships between different-language literatures as well as the connections with other arts, media and (popular and sub-) cultures. The study programme imparts aesthetic, intermedial and intercultural competences that can be applied in academia, in cultural institutions and in international cultural exchange.
