About the Program

CoPeCo is a two-year joint Masters program in Contemporary Performance and Composition offering students an open platform for experimental artistic practice within a European setting. The curriculum aims to create a dynamic environment that supports and promotes contemporary musical expression in all aspects including creation, production, performance and relation to society. A joint platform for composers and performers is established through cross-disciplinary interaction, cooperation, live electronics and improvisation. The program consortium includes the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT) in Tallinn (1st semester), the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH) (2nd semester), the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance of Lyon (CNSMDL) (3rd semester), and the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre (HfMT) (4th semester). Students spend one semester at each partner institution, benefiting from group synergy and from the competencies and cultural-educational backgrounds of all partner academies and countries. Graduates should be able to express themselves competently and artistically in the field of composition or interpretation using contemporary and multimedia means and procedures, opening up new career perspectives. This includes a responsible relationship with society. Students should possess the ability to communicate individually and collectively about their artistic practice. The development of presentation ideas plays an essential role in opening up new listeners, networks and contexts for contemporary music.
