About the Program

The international Master's program "Crop Protection" addresses issues that are vital to humankind by focusing on crop health in sustainable crop production systems. The study program is research- and practice-oriented, international, and multidisciplinary. It opens up career opportunities in agricultural research, public authorities and regulatory institutions, as well as in the agro-industry. An internship in a private company or research institution offers the opportunity to connect academic training with hands-on experience in interdisciplinary teamwork in a professional environment. The program consists of four semesters and comprises a total of 120 credits (ECTS), including advanced courses (81 credits), an internship of 6 weeks (9 credits), and a Master thesis with colloquium (30 credits). The curriculum includes compulsory modules such as Pesticides I & II, Integrated Management of Pests and Diseases, Basic Laboratory Techniques, and Scientific Presenting, Writing, Paper Reviewing and Publishing in Crop Protection. Students can choose from various elective modules including Plant Herbivore Interactions, Digital Techniques for Crop Monitoring, Biological Control and Biodiversity, Plant Diseases and Pests, Weed Biology and Management, Molecular Diagnostics, and specialized courses in Mycology, Plant Virology, and Fungal Toxins.
