It uses qualitative approaches and hermeneutic-interpretative working methods, with a focus on popular and everyday culture in its oral and written traditions, images, symbols and signs. Cultural History deals with the relationships between culture and society in Europe and global modernity, examining cultural forms, horizons of interpretation, values, experiences, perceptions, practices and their representations through various sources including texts, material culture, and media.
