Cultural Management

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The single-subject Master's program 'Cultural Management' teaches specialized knowledge, skills, and thought patterns from both humanities and economics. This means that the program combines a wide diversity of research and teaching subjects as well as methods. The concept of the Master's program is guided by the insight that the areas of action and decision-making for both industrial and business enterprises as well as organizations and associations are no longer limited to one country, one cultural area, or even one language area. This creates new problems of mediation and new conflict potentials, but also new opportunities to break through traditional patterns of action by learning from others and being ready to test one's own, but also modified action strategies under changed institutional and cultural conditions. The main features of the program are its interdisciplinarity, its cultural studies orientation, and its practical orientation. The program offers two career-oriented specializations: 1) the professional field 'Business: Cultural Management' and 2) the professional field 'Business: Cultural Area Competence'.
