About the Program

The University of Augsburg offers the supplementary course De Processibus Matrimonialibus for the training of counselors with regard to the conduct of ecclesiastical marriage annulment proceedings. In this course, students are introduced to the basics of Catholic canon law and especially to ecclesiastical marriage and procedural law. Students practice the knowledge of ecclesiastical law in various courses and become familiar with the activities of ecclesiastical courts. The program draws on specially suited lectures, seminars and courses in canon law offered by the Faculty of Catholic Theology, most of which are offered as block courses. It can be completed during the course of study and can be taken up at the beginning of any semester. The program has a standard duration of four semesters and a maximum duration of six semesters and is open to students of all subjects and faculties of the University of Augsburg. Due to a small group size, special attention is paid to the individual support of each student. The University of Augsburg awards a certificate for the successful completion of the additional study program.
