Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's program 'Design & Computation' is a joint program offered by the University of Arts Berlin (UdK) and Technical University Berlin (TU Berlin). This four-semester interdisciplinary program is aimed at Bachelor graduates from design, art, engineering, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. The program begins with a customizable introductory semester to develop a common foundation, followed by two semesters of work in the studio 'Design as Medial Practice' where students explore new technologies, media, materials and methods. Students can choose between two elective modules: 'Modelling and Simulation' or 'Structures and Systems'. The final semester is dedicated to writing a thesis, optionally with a practical component. Graduates develop competences in research, application of new technologies in design processes, critical examination of technological issues, and a flexible mindset that transcends disciplinary boundaries.
