About the Program

Economics deals with the explanation and description of economic relationships and the possibilities for realizing individual and overall economic goals in individual markets or the economy as a whole. The range of topics extends from macroeconomic fundamentals to the behavior of individual households and companies to economic policy strategy problems in open economies. The boundary with business administration is fluid. The Bachelor of Science in Economics is a professionally qualifying degree that enables rapid study without loss of quality through tight study organization. The program imparts application-oriented skills and methods on the foundation of a good theoretical basic education in economic theory, which enables graduates to analyze complex issues in economic theory and practice. The degree should qualify for both professional employment and continuation of university education. Immediately after the Bachelor's degree, there is the possibility of continuing university education in the Master's program in Economics at Campus Essen, but also to further develop the knowledge learned in a related program in Duisburg-Essen or another domestic or foreign university.
