Environmental Challenges and Human Responses

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The M.Sc. Environmental Challenges and Human Responses (ENCHURE) is a cross-location, research-based Master's program that connects knowledge from basic environmental science research on complex environmental systems with research on the interaction of environmental systems with society and individuals. The methodology training provides tools to model such complex human-environment systems and connect them with various application fields (psychology, communication, economics, spatial planning, civil engineering). This enables students to develop scientifically sound options for action and solutions that are technically possible, socially acceptable, and practical. The curriculum includes courses on basic knowledge of various application disciplines, advanced introductions to interdisciplinary integration of theoretical knowledge and scientific methods from different subjects. There is also a specific focus on research-based learning through close connection to ongoing research projects, case studies, and empirical master's theses.
