About the Program
This is a binational master's programme offered jointly by the Herder Institute at Leipzig University and the German Section of the Department of Modern Languages at Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico. The program combines linguistics, applied linguistics, didactics, cultural studies and test research (Leipzig) with intercultural literary studies, intercultural translation studies and contrastive cultural studies (Mexico). Students spend the first and fourth semesters in Leipzig, and the second and third in Mexico. The program includes nine modules covering three subject areas: Linguistics, Cultural studies, and Didactics/methodology. A five-week mandatory internship is completed in Mexico. The master's thesis is written in German. Graduates receive a double degree recognized in both Germany and Mexico.
