About the Program

In the German B.A. study program, you will focus on linguistic and literary science research themes. The studies are divided into German Linguistics, German Medieval Studies, and Modern German Literature (NDL). Linguistic research occupies itself with structure of the German language. Contents include the sound and writing system as well as the syntax and semantic level. Special focus is on teaching the ability to analyze concrete language materials (sentences, texts, utterances). Literary science offers theories and methods of analysis and interpretation of German language texts from the early Medieval period to the present. Examples are introduced in differing cultural and sociohistorical connections.
