About the Program

Studying teacher education (German) qualifies you with the professional skills required to teach German in secondary education at a German "Gymnasium". The German courses consist of literary and linguistic modules. The literary modules teach students to analyse and reflect critically on literature and to speak and write about it with authority. Students study German literature of all epochs from the Middle Ages to the present as well as all genres of literature (prose, poetry, drama). The linguistic modules deal systematically with the structure and history of the German language, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, language acquisition, language processing, and research into dialects. In addition to subject-related content, students will have classes in didactics and education. A module providing the option of studies abroad is integrated in this study programme.
