Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The six-semester Germanistik program provides knowledge and working methods in the areas of German language and German literature. Language and literature are made comprehensible in their historical, socio-cultural and regional contexts, developments and differentiations. The program also focuses on the conditions of modern communication and media culture. All courses aim not only to impart specialist knowledge and develop skills, but also to develop communicative and social competence. In the first 4 semesters, students acquire broad basic knowledge of linguistics and literary studies and develop basic skills in their application in the analysis of linguistic phenomena and literary texts. The advanced studies lead to a more precise and detailed understanding of selected linguistic and literary problems corresponding to the current state of research. In special courses, students become familiar with techniques of processing and presenting information as well as with moderation procedures. The program leads to an open academic degree that enables graduates to independently work on scientific questions and to apply knowledge methodically in various practical areas. Depending on the chosen second subject, internships completed during studies, and training programs after graduation, graduates with a degree in German Studies have various possible career fields.
