About the Program

In the Master's program in Vocal Music Theater, graduates acquire the prerequisites to work successfully as professional singer-performers in their professional lives. The HfMDK Frankfurt offers a wide range of courses from specific workshops on stylistic or performance aspects to complete opera performances in front of an audience. The close cooperation with the stages and theaters of the region, especially the Hessian Theater Academy (HTA), is an integral part of the studies and is supplemented by regular career-oriented auditions. Students develop a profound singing technique and competencies in various genres of music theater. A central element of the training is a close connection of content from the areas of singing, scenic representation, body work, musical (ensemble) work, in-depth (foreign language) coaching, and the teaching of dramaturgical content knowledge. The program includes opportunities for specialization in contemporary music (in collaboration with IzM) and/or historical performance practice (in collaboration with the HIP department).
