Hybrid Electric Propulsion Technology

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

Alternative drive systems are crucial for emission reduction as they provide a path to cleaner, more sustainable transportation that addresses both regional air quality issues and global climate change challenges. Hybrid electric propulsion technology offers a promising solution for decarbonizing the transport sector and achieving emission-free mobility. The Master's program "Hybrid Electric Propulsion Technology" was specifically developed at BTU to provide a comprehensive understanding of this interdisciplinary field, covering aspects of mechanical engineering as well as electrical and control engineering. The primary goal of the program is to impart knowledge and competence in hybrid-electric propulsion technology with a focus on system design, analysis, and effective problem-solving. It aims to equip the younger generation with the necessary skills to make a significant contribution in this field by providing essential knowledge and skills for hybrid-electric propulsion technology in aviation. Within the study program, after acquiring knowledge about general topics in mechanical and electrical engineering, students can choose between the two main directions of engine technology and electric drive technology. Graduates will be able to work in various areas of sustainable mobility worldwide, such as academic and industrial research and development, the design and manufacturing industry, and planning and policy-making organizations.
