About the Program

The Master of Arts in Indo-European Studies primarily focuses on the history of Indo-European languages. Students will acquire a profound understanding of historical-comparative linguistics and learn to examine both traditional and modern linguistic approaches for the description and explanation of language patterns critically. By analysing a wide variety of texts, students will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner. Special features: In this degree programme, emphasis is placed on linguistic training. Career opportunities: Graduates of this programme are able to conduct scholarly investigations and assessments of linguistic phenomena. They are therefore prepared for work in fields requiring strong cultural, communicative, and linguistic competence, such as the media, editing, cultural management, public relations, trade-specific journalism, and adult education.
