About the Program

The language minor in Indonesian offers three basic modules which convey to students skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) is the national language of the Republic of Indonesia and one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Linguistically, "Bahasa Indonesia" is the Malay language, which is also the national language of Malaysia and Brunei. In the first three semesters students acquire, through the basic modules, fundamental knowledge of grammar and communication skills. This subject must be combined with a second subject. The minor in Indonesian can be combined with a major in Asian Studies with the profile Southeast Asian Studies or with the profile Comparative Religious Studies.
