About the Program

The Master of Music Instrumental Guitar program is designed for musicians who possess exceptional musical talent and have already developed their instrumental skills to a high level during their Bachelor's studies. Students are expected to have acquired knowledge and skills in music theory and musicology that go well beyond the basics. The focus is clearly on the main subject without neglecting the aforementioned subjects. The goal is professionalization in the artistic field. In addition to the highest technical skills, comprehensive knowledge of the respective repertoire is sought, covering all epochs and not limited to solo repertoire. Ensemble playing is a central component of the Master's program at MHL. It promotes not only artistic but also personal development on a social level. Upon completion of the program, students should be able to independently access music from all epochs and create and represent their own interpretations. To ensure employability in traditional professions such as orchestras, the corresponding repertoire components should be particularly well mastered and, if possible, supplemented by individual specialization. Graduates should be able to successfully complete auditions for orchestra positions.
