About the Program

Jazz | Improvising Artist is a Master of Music program focusing on improvisation as the main subject. Students receive lessons with 4 to 8 instrumental teachers. The program offers various main subjects including jazz voice, jazz electric bass, jazz guitar, jazz piano, jazz double bass, jazz trombone, jazz saxophone, jazz drums/percussion, jazz trumpet, jazz violin, and many other jazz instruments. The standard period of study is 4 semesters full-time (part-time study is possible, depending on the major) with a workload of 120 ECTS Credits. The curriculum includes modules in improvisation, ensemble playing, studio practice, piano for illustrating improvisational concepts, advanced jazz theory, and a bandleader project. Students complete a master's thesis in the form of a media document/recording where they demonstrate their artistic position as a professional jazz musician.
