About the Program

Kirchenmusik A is a modularized diploma program designed as a four-semester advanced study course. The program aims to enable students to independently perform church music services in prominent positions as part of the church's proclamation ministry, working together with full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff. It develops exceptional artistic skills as a conductor/choir director and organist, as well as pedagogical abilities for training part-time church musicians and volunteer assistants. Graduates gain competence in professional supervision tasks. The program follows the framework regulations of the Conference of Directors of Church and State Training Institutions for Church Music and Regional Church Music Directors in the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). One-tenth of the study requirements can be fulfilled through a wide range of elective options, allowing for individual specialization according to personal interests. The diploma qualifies graduates to apply for any A-level church musician position.
