Korrepetition

Master of Music (M.Mus.)

About the Program

The Master of Music in Korrepetition (Collaborative Piano) is designed for students who already have experience as duo and chamber music partners. The program focuses on building and completing a standard repertoire in the areas of strings, winds, and singers. The repertoire includes playing duo sonatas, piano reductions of instrumental solo concertos, opera literature, and song duo repertoire. The program requires communication skills, interest in other instruments, singing, and working with other musicians. Students will participate in various ensembles throughout their studies, continuously expanding their repertoire and extending it to other instruments. The program includes extensive observation in classes of other instructors to learn about the specific challenges of working with string or wind instruments or the voice. Chamber music groups of three or more musicians are also part of the training. Particularly important is the ability to distinguish between the pianistic partnership requirements when working with a singer, a string player, or a wind player, and to respond to the different needs of a partner.
