About the Program

Master graduates in Library and Information Science are specialized for work in different types of libraries and other information-providing institutions. They acquire knowledge, skills and abilities required for scientifically-based and professionally independent work as Master of Arts in leadership positions. The program particularly aims to strengthen and deepen students' leadership and management competencies. The course content is strongly oriented towards current and future requirements of professional practice. For example, organization, personnel management and project management play important roles alongside long-term archiving, digitization and media law. The optional choice of a profile line offers students the opportunity to further specialize in a specific field of activity in addition to qualifying for management tasks. Students can choose between the profile lines Music Libraries, Library Education, or Historical Collections.
