Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The four-semester/two-year program provides students with advanced competencies in research and teaching, deepens and specializes linguistic content, and opens up opportunities for pursuing their own research questions. It sharpens the ability to prepare linguistic research topics in an international context, both for a professional audience and for the broader public. In the first and second semester, students identify the focus of their own interests by exploring the interface between linguistics and related disciplines. They also learn to critically evaluate empirical research, replicate published studies, and carry out their own case studies. The third semester focuses on pursuing research questions and developing a thesis plan. The fourth semester is dedicated to the final thesis. The program qualifies graduates for PhD studies in linguistics, careers in scientific communication, data science, public relations, knowledge transfer, consulting, cultural mediation, language training, and management positions.
