Literature and Practical Media Studies*Literature and Practical Media Studies

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's program in Literature and Media Practice (LuM) provides graduates of the study programs mentioned under 'Subject Combinations' with a combination of in-depth knowledge of the current literature and media system as well as practical skills for developing literature and culture-related projects, particularly in the areas of print and audiovisual media, but also digital media. Students learn to analyze different media and their institutions, structures, and functions, and to use the acquired knowledge for their own work. The focus is on literature and culture-related productions and programs, especially the media-specific processing and presentation of literary and, in a broader sense, cultural objects and topics. Graduates of the program are high-level generalists who can shoot a film in the morning, write a press release in the afternoon, give a radio interview in between, lead a discussion in the evening, and know how to reflect on all of this academically.
