Live Art Forms Performative Practices Master's Program

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

Live Art Forms is a practice-oriented, non-consecutive, postgraduate master's program teaching performative and aesthetic practices across media and disciplines of visual and performing arts. The program aims to teach a contemporary understanding of performance art as an undiscipline — a plurality of performative and aesthetic practices situated in a multiplicity of public spaces, on digital platforms and networked infrastructures, rooted in and spawning from the social and physical body. The program is structured by four-week phases taking place in fall, winter, spring and summer on campus at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, alternating with longer phases of independent off-campus study. It is designed to enable participants to initiate, organize, and present an individual or collaborative artistic practice in a multidimensional context constituted by diverse publics, digital platforms, and global relations. The program enables students to grow towards complex individual, collaborative, or collective performative practices in the spirit of artistic research and experimentation.
