About the Program
The Master of Music in Mandolin at HfMT Cologne in Wuppertal is a comprehensive program focusing on artistic and pedagogical study of the mandolin. The program has been a center of excellence in the international mandolin world for three decades and features the only professorship in Europe for mandolin as a major artistic subject. Students receive interdisciplinary training that includes artistic skills, didactic and musicological expertise. The program offers opportunities to extend training with soprano lute/baroque mandolin studies, weekly auditions, chamber music sessions, and concert appearances. Students can also dedicate 1/3 of their main subject lessons to other styles such as jazz, pop, Brazilian choro, and bluegrass. A highlight of the training is participation in the Cappella dei Leutini ensemble, which performs Renaissance and Baroque music on historical instruments.
