About the Program

Mathematics can be studied on any teacher training course. Mathematics is a compulsory subject for elementary school teachers. In the Mathematics sub-degree course, students should acquire critical scientific thinking and the subject-specific and didactic knowledge, skills and methods required for the profession. In the subject-related studies, students should gain an appropriate picture of mathematics, which determines the teaching of mathematics in the respective type of school, and also acquire the independence to be able to teach with confidence. In their didactic studies, students should gain essential insights into the relationship between mathematics and mathematics teaching and the conditions for learning and teaching mathematics in a way that is appropriate for pupils.
