Master

About the Program

Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering This Master’s degree programme prepares graduates for a wide range of professional roles in mechanical engineering. Students acquire a broad and up-to-date foundation in the field, with a particular emphasis on advanced applications of computer-aided technologies in engineering and manufacturing. Throughout the programme, students deepen their expertise by choosing one of three specialisations: Engineering – focusing on development and design engineering Digitalisation – focusing on digital manufacturing and smart production Sustainability – focusing on sustainable solutions in mechanical engineering Specialisation: Engineering Students specialising in Engineering expand their knowledge in areas such as finite element methods, drive technology, control engineering, materials science, process and manufacturing informatics, and product data management. The programme strengthens multidisciplinary thinking as well as analytical and problem-solving skills required for complex engineering tasks. Specialisation: Digitalisation The Digitalisation specialisation provides in-depth knowledge in automation, process and manufacturing informatics, and product data management. Particular emphasis is placed on digital manufacturing, graphical simulation, and manufacturing simulation. Through project-based learning, students further develop their interdisciplinary, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Specialisation: Sustainability Students choosing the Sustainability specialisation focus on the development and evaluation of sustainable design and production solutions. The curriculum addresses environmental, economic, and ethical aspects of sustainability, enabling students to assess the sustainability of mechanical engineering products and their manufacturing processes and to apply appropriate evaluation strategies of products in mechanical engineering and their production processes. Building on the knowledge gained throughout the programme, graduates are equipped to engage in research, develop optimised engineering solutions, and successfully manage complex challenges in modern mechanical engineering. The programme concludes with a Master’s thesis, which students complete within a period of six months.
