About the Program

The Media Education degree program is an additional qualification in the teaching degree program, not a fundamentally independent degree program. It can only be studied in the teaching degree program as an extension in addition to the first and second subject. The program is intended for students of all teaching professions and as an additional qualification for teachers of all school types. It is organized to be completed by teachers alongside their professional activities, with about half of the courses offered through tutored virtual courses. The program qualifies students to handle school tasks in the media field such as instructing students in sensible media use, using digital media in learning and teaching processes, advising on media issues, and supporting schools in using media in organizational processes. The part-time extension program takes about four semesters and concludes with a state examination. The program consists of four areas: media education, media didactics, media design, and information technology basics.
