About the Program

The Medical Engineering degree programme is a gateway education to the industry of the future. It's part of the global healthcare sector which has an international presence. The program teaches everything needed to work at the interface between people, technology, medicine and engineering. The international programme includes both technical modules and interdisciplinary components. The programme lasts seven semesters, with one practical semester to be completed outside the university in industry. The first four semesters form the foundation course, teaching the basics of engineering disciplines, medical technology and integrative modules. From the sixth semester onwards, students can choose an individual specialisation from a catalogue of electives. Graduates are qualified as sought-after engineers in the life sciences industry. Possible areas of work include research and development, product management, production, quality management, medical devices approvals, project management, and sales. The program is characterized by small study groups allowing for intensive collaboration between students and lecturers. It has a strong practical focus with interactive formats, laboratory work, and project work. Students have access to teaching and research operating theatre, X-Ray & Molecular Imaging laboratory, and Medical Training Centre. The program includes industry contact through excursions, guest lectures, and industry-related project work.
