About the Program

The midwifery degree programme is dual in nature and consists of a practical part and a university-based part, which is reflected in an alternation of practical and theoretical phases. The practical phases take place at cooperating clinical and non-clinical partners. The dual full-time degree programme comprises a total of 20 modules spread over seven semesters (210 ECTS). The mandatory modules include 15 theory modules, four longer practical modules and the bachelor's module. In the 7th semester, an elective area is offered to deepen subject-specific and/or cross-professional topics. The programme prepares students to work as experts for the life phase from pregnancy, birth, puerperium, breastfeeding, family formation until the child's first birthday in different settings and forms: clinically, non-clinically, employed, freelance, interprofessional, in smaller and larger teams and independently.
