About the Program

The degree program involves linguistics and literature and focuses on reading Greek and Latin texts from antiquity (in two languages where appropriate) and interpreting them. Students interpret the texts within their historical and cultural context, which mainly includes the aspects of history and society, literary history, mythology, religion and philosophy. Although prior knowledge of Latin or Greek is not a formal requirement for the minor, it is strongly recommended. The teaching combines traditional textual analysis with approaches drawn from modern literary theory. This subject must be combined with a second subject.
