About the Program

The International Master's Program in Molecular Medicine at Charité is a two-year, fully accredited program conducted in English, welcoming 22 new students each October from all over the world. The program is international with approximately half of each class coming from outside Germany, with students admitted from over 30 countries across all continents. The program is structured around three different kinds of modules: Scientific Skill Modules, Core Modules, and Lab modules, which run in the first year and a half. Upon successful completion of all modules, students begin a six-month period of supervised research for the Master's thesis, which may be conducted at the Charité or one of its collaborating institutions. The selection process is intensive, resulting in almost 100% of graduates successfully defending their thesis within two years and moving directly into scientific positions within one year of completion. Throughout the program, students receive extensive support from program staff, including help with presentations, writing and language support, and advice on various topics from choosing a doctor to selecting a laboratory for thesis research. The program also organizes cultural and team training events to help students transition smoothly, especially international students. The goal of the program is to provide students with a solid theoretical background in molecular pathology of disease and hands-on training in corresponding techniques practiced in both research laboratories and clinics.
