About the Program

The Master's program in Multimedia and Authorship (MMA) 120 LP has both scientific and applied components. In the scientific part, students explore topics of digital society, focusing on interdisciplinary research fields between media, communication, cultural, and social sciences. Students engage with questions of digital culture, topics at the intersection of information technology and society such as disinformation, big data, algorithms, digital markets, and platforms. The program teaches central concepts and methods of media studies, particularly media history and dramaturgy. The applied part focuses on digital journalism and storytelling. Through practical media productions, format development, and media prototyping, the program enables reflection on media action in theory and practice. Students learn media-practical basics in text, image, sound, and web, as well as agile project management and creative techniques like design thinking. A focus is on the conception and implementation of digital media projects. The program's goal is to enable students to independently and in teams successfully implement media and scientific projects while developing a relevant portfolio for their career entry. Cooperation partners from the media industry and science allow students to network during their studies and publish their own projects.
