About the Program
The master's degree program in Opera Correpetition was introduced at HfMT Cologne in the winter semester 2016/2017. The program is part of the Rheinische Opernakademie (Rhenish Opera Academy) of Department 4 Voice. The goal is to provide students with an excellent qualification to work as a répétiteur in musical theater. Students are taught by experienced conductors who began their theater careers as solo repetiteurs and directors of studies. They teach students how to lead and design ensembles, comprehensive knowledge of opera parts, and advanced aspects such as the special tasks of study directors at a theater. Students gain practical experience in the university's own opera productions and in productions at cooperating theaters (Aachen, Bonn, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne, Krefeld-Mönchengladbach).
