About the Program

The minor in Persian provides students with communicative skills and competence in working with Persian-language source texts based on extensive, communications-oriented training in modern Persian. The program encompasses three practical language modules where students learn the basic skills of speaking, listening comprehension, writing and reading of modern and classic Persian. The language instruction is strongly practice-oriented, fostering both passive and active learning. The aim is to bring students to the point where they can work with Persian-language sources for purposes of literary criticism and historical analysis.
