About the Program

Philosophy at HHU Düsseldorf is an integrative Bachelor of Arts program that explores fundamental questions about morality, knowledge, consciousness, and the meaning of life. The program offers unique advantages including the option to study philosophy as an independent single-subject course or in combination with another subject, outstanding teaching, small group discussions, intensive supervision through academic mentoring, and a thematic variety covering almost all areas and eras of philosophy. The curriculum is divided into three main areas: Theoretical Philosophy (dealing with truth, knowledge, mind and consciousness), Practical Philosophy (examining human action, morality, and social issues), and History of Philosophy (covering philosophical classics from Plato to Kant to the present). The program also includes Logic, Argumentation and Writing, and Contemporary Research Discourses. Students can set their own focus and choose from a wide range of courses.
