Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's Programme in Philosophy is strongly research-based and builds on the three-year bachelor's programme in Philosophy. During MA studies, students expand and deepen their knowledge of philosophy and methods of thought in close alliance with research. Students apply theories and positions of classical and contemporary philosophers at a high scientific level. The program offers opportunities to focus on philosophical sub-disciplines or interfaces with other subjects through compulsory elective subjects. The Department of Philosophy at the University of Konstanz features systematic areas of focus, addressing historical positions and the extent to which their contents and arguments are convincing. The department pursues interdisciplinary approaches in both teaching and research. The MA programme consists of modules totaling 120 ECTS credits, with 84 credits in the core subject and up to 36 credits in the supplementary elective area (minor subjects).
