About the Program

The B.A. program Polish Philology introduces students to the Polish language, literature, and culture. The linguistic program focuses on semantics and morphology as well as sociolinguistics and provides the skills to conduct empirical research. In the field of literature, students gain an insight into the currents and trends in Polish literature from its beginnings to the present day and acquire the ability to think and analyze in terms of literary studies methodologies. They recognize the specific literariness of a text and can draw well-founded conclusions about changes in literary style formations as a result of aesthetic and social factors. Polish Cultural Studies enables students to reflect on hetero- and autostereotypes, to consider literature and language in the context of the overall culture and introduces students to semiotics and other approaches so that they learn to critically reflect on concepts such as identity and cultural values. The language practice program offers the opportunity to learn the Polish language up to level B2 (CEFR).
