About the Program

Political education is a necessary element of a free and open society that, in the course of the history of the Federal Republic of Germany, has evolved into a separate policy area. The master's degree program for continuing education in Political-Historical Studies is offered by the University of Bonn in close cooperation with political foundations, museums, media organizations and institutions of political-historical education and mediation. The program straddles the disciplines political science, history and media studies. It is aimed at university graduates with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience who wish to gain additional qualifications that are both practice-oriented and academically sound. Possible lines of work include: political-historical education and mediation, museums/historic sites, libraries/archives, (political) foundations, adult education, national authorities/ministries, international organizations (IOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.).
