About the Program

The Master of Education (MEd) in Political Science follows the Bachelor of Education (BEd) and complements teacher education ("Lehramt Gymnasium"). When studying political science, students will be mainly concerned with political perspectives on social needs, interests and objectives. Students will acquire knowledge about political institutions and their inner structures, become acquainted with theories that explain how political power is legitimised, and attend classes on conflict resolution and consensus building. The program enables students to analyse political decision-making processes and critically appraise mechanisms within society. After earning the MEd, graduates can be admitted to the teacher traineeship ("Referendariat").
