About the Program

The Professional Year is a non-compulsory program that offers students an excellent opportunity to gain professional experience during their studies at the Hertie School. It consists of a full year (9 to 15 months) of work experience between the first and second year of graduate studies. Partner institutions assign suitable tasks to students and provide appropriate remuneration. After completing the Professional Year, students return to the Hertie School to begin their final year of studies. The school has established relationships with a range of attractive institutions such as ministries, international companies and NGOs to help students find positions matching their interests.
