About the Program

Students of psychology learn about the human experience and human behaviour. Based on empirical research, students attempt to describe, understand, and predict human behaviour in all areas of life, and subsequently deduce implications for psychological interventions. The polyvalent Bachelor's degree programme in psychology (100% weighting) prepares students to begin a career as a psychologist or psychotherapist. The degree programme initially equips students with basic knowledge of the various branches and applied fields which fall within the broad spectrum of psychology. In addition, students gain understanding of psychological diagnostics, as well as in-depth knowledge of methods used in psychological research. By combining elective course components, students are able to develop their own areas of specialism (this includes specialisation in content required for entry to a Master's degree programme in clinical psychology and psychotherapy), or they may choose to select course components from across the various branches of psychology.
