About the Program

In Slavic Literatures at the University of Konstanz you will be taught methods to academically approach literary and non-literary texts. The focus is on the academic analysis and interpretation of the literatures and languages of the peoples of eastern and south-eastern Europe (mainly Russian, but also Polish, Czech and south-Slavic literatures). You will be introduced to various methodologies from literary theory, literary history, as well as cultural studies and cultural theory and thus learn how to analyse and reflect critically on literature and to speak and write about it with authority. The linguistic modules deal systematically with the structure and history of the Slavic languages. In the practical courses you will improve your own skills in Russian and another Slavic language. You will also attend classes on oral and written language skills, listening comprehension, translation and grammar.
